Cara Belleza, 15 years oldMy first Aby

She was named Cara Belleza (Bessie) and was born in early August 1987 just outside Stockholm, Sweden. She died April 9th, 2003, almost 16 years old.

Her father was the Norwegian Champion Shew Bahir's Turbo Alvaric and her mother, Ayram Angelina, was born in Norway but emigrated to Sweden. Nowadays we live 600 km North of Stockholm in the city of Umea. I was her master and owner but she didn't always agreed to that.

From her point of view I belonged to her. She used me as a piece of furniture and sometimes treated me like that. When she was dissatisfied with something she loudly, with a rich vocabulary, let me know. When I was up late at night she was nagging and pushed me away from what I'm actually was doing until I went to bed. Then she took place between my legs under my quilt grumbling from that position if I tried to move. If I stayed out late at night she let me know what she thought about that inappropriate action against her by yelling at me for at least an hour. Who needs a wife?

She was also a gourmet cat stealing all delicacies from my plate when having dinner. She was very fond of French garlic cheese, smoked reindeer, salmon, veal and everything else I like too, so our meals were always a struggle for ones bread. A friend of mine once told me: "The cat is nature's way of telling that you have too nice furniture". You should really watch my sofa... In spite of all this I love her and miss her so much.

When I felt sad or worried about something she came up to me, looked straight into my eyes, touched my cheek with her paw and started licking my hair. Ruth Zimmerman writes in her book "Abyssinians" about one of her cat's behavior when a dear friend of her died. "...my red Abyssinian female cuddled up to me and actually licked the tears from my cheeks until she made me laugh".
